It is the goal of Construction Advisory Group, LLC to limit your entities risk due to poor performance by contractors. CAG monitors projects at the request of the insurer or lender to determine if contractors are performing in accordance with their commitments. CAG personnel review payments to subcontractors by the bonded contractor in an effort to limit claims against the payment bond. CAG accomplishes its work through on-site inspection services and ongoing review of payment requisitions. CAG can also arrange legal consultation from attorneys specializing in surety and construction law.
The individuals of Construction Advisory Group, LLC have over 130 years of combined experience in the general contracting and construction services industries with specialized experience in contracting, architecture, engineering, and accounting. CAG provides a hands-on, practical, approach to assist the insurance industry and lending institutions in reducing its exposure to claims due to poor contractor performance.
Alexander Smith Jr., Principal
Mr. Smith has a BS degree in Building Construction from the University of Florida. He has over 17 years of construction experience in the Project Management and Owner Developer areas of construction which include Education, Commercial, Government, Detention, Food Service, Mixed-use, Hotel and Condominium projects. Mr. Smith’s overall knowledge of Architectural & Structural Functional Design, M.E.P. System Design, Trouble-shooting, Preconstruction and Project Management, Contract Negotiations, Finance & Accounting allows him to mitigate issues successfully before they arise. Mr. Smith has been involved with projects ranging from $11 million to over $200 million with overall project completion responsibilities and financial accountability.
Mr. Newman has over 30 years of experience in the mechanical contracting industry. He has managed major projects from coast to coast including industrial, commercial, and institutional ranging from $5 million to $25 million. Mr. Newman has an extensive background in administration, finance, and contract negotiations. He was president of a major mechanical contracting firm on the East coast and Executive Vice President of one of New York’s largest mechanical contractors. Mr. Newman’s vast knowledge of the contracting industry enables him to assess and recognize potential problem situations before they get out of control, thereby saving time and money.
Mr. Tuhari has over 40 years of Construction experience. He earned his Masters degree in Structural Engineering from the German University of Technology in Nuremberg, Germany. Mr. Tuharis’ construction experience and expertise spans from the Far East to the United States East Coast and include Structural Load Design, Construction Management, Estimating, Purchasing, Scheduling & Material Engineering.
Mr. Cason has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University. He has over 27 years of experience in the M.E.P. contracting industry. He has managed in a variety of projects to include high-rise condominium, commercial, industrial, power, pharmaceutical, and pulp & paper. Mr. Cason has a background for effectively and efficiently planning, organizing, administering activities to include specifications, scheduling, cost control, installation, evaluation, start-up of technical projects. Mr. Cason is a member of Association for Facilities Engineering and has a Certification as AFE Certified Plant Engineer.
Mr. Dotson is an accomplished Construction Professional with over 20 years of broad-based competencies in planning and managing large-scale interior and exterior projects, including commercial, institutional and transportation. Mr. Dotson is able to provide an effective interface with owners, architects, engineers, contractors and trades personnel. His coordination of projects, through establishing sequential programs along monitoring and ensuring adherence to established quality control standards assist in completing assignments within time and budgetary constraints.
